Everything you need to get ChaosKey running on your channel

Getting Started

ChaosKey is a Twitch extension that lets viewers trigger sound effects and Text-to-Speech messages on your stream using Bits. Here's how to set it up.

Step 1: Create Your Account

1Go to chaoskey.live and click "Login with Twitch".

Your streamer account is created automatically. You'll land on your dashboard where you can configure sounds and TTS.

Step 2: Install the Twitch Extension

2Go to your Twitch Extensions Dashboard and search for "ChaosKey".

Install the extension and activate it as a Panel below your stream. Viewers will see the ChaosKey panel when they visit your channel.

Step 3: Configure Sound Effects

3On your ChaosKey dashboard, go to the Sound Effects tab.

  • Enable built-in sounds from the library
  • Upload your own custom sounds (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A — max 5MB)
  • Set the Bits amount for each sound
  • Adjust volume levels

Step 4: Configure TTS

4Go to the TTS Settings tab on your dashboard.

  • Enable or disable TTS
  • Set the Bits amount per message
  • Choose a voice and adjust pitch, speed, and volume
  • Set minimum and maximum message length

Step 5: Set Up OBS Overlay

5Go to the OBS Overlay tab on your dashboard and copy your unique overlay URL.

In OBS Studio:

  1. Add a new Browser Source
  2. Paste your overlay URL
  3. Set width to 800 and height to 600
  4. Check "Control audio via OBS" if you want to manage volume in OBS

This single browser source handles all sound effects, TTS audio, and visual notifications.

How It Works for Viewers

Once everything is set up, viewers interact through the ChaosKey panel on your Twitch channel:

FAQ

Do viewers need a ChaosKey account?

No. Viewers interact entirely through the Twitch extension panel using Bits. No separate account or login is required.

Do I need to be live for the extension to work?

The extension panel is visible on your channel page whether you're live or not. However, sounds and TTS will only play on stream when OBS is running with the overlay active.

Can I upload my own sounds?

Yes. Go to the Sound Effects tab on your dashboard and use the upload form. Supported formats are MP3, WAV, OGG, and M4A (max 5MB per file).

How do I change the Bits amount for a sound?

On the Sound Effects tab, use the slider next to each sound to set the Bits amount. Available tiers: 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, and 10000.

How do payments work?

All transactions are handled by Twitch through Bits. ChaosKey does not process any payments directly.
